The Kickrest: A Snuggie for Your Feet

When my Granny bought me a leopard Snuggie one year for Christmas (from QVC of course), I was beyond excited, especially since I had been wanting one. Well a couple of weeks ago Jeff decided he'd add something to accompany my Snuggie - a Kickrest.

PYRC #5: Avocado Deviled Eggs and Cream Cheese Sausage Balls

Wednesday I introduced you to the spread I made for Tiffany's shower so today I'm going to actually begin sharing the recipes. As mentioned, two out of my four shower recipes came from none other than Pinterest - the avocado deviled eggs and cream cheese sausage balls. Considering these are more party recipes than dinner recipes, Tiff's shower was perfect excuse to give them a try.

Avocado Deviled Eggs

According to Kelly Long, these were the "best deviled eggs ever!" I have actually have never made deviled eggs before nor did I even try them until after I turned 20, so I don't really think I am the best judge to make that call. And that's aside from the fact that eating them after "taste cooking" them all morning kind of invalidated my opinion. The recipe is so easy though and as long as you have one or two ripe avocados on hand, you can add a great twist to your deviled eggs.

Yummy Shower for a Bride-to-Be

On March 10th my wonderful college roomie Tiffany will be tying the knot. So in spirit of the big day we of course had to host a wedding shower for the bride-to-be. And what better way for me to help host than to offer to cook the grub.

PYRC #4: Chick-Fil-A Chicken Nuggets and One Pot Mac N' Cheese

First off, what the heck is PYRC? Well it stands for Pinterest Yummy Recipes Challenge and stems from the first post where I challenged myself to attempt to make all of my recipe pins (yeah I know, it will take quite a while). The challenge name is becoming a little too long for my post titles, so I'm abbreviating... from now on.

Second off, who doesn't love Chick-Fil-A nuggets and mac n' cheese? Definitely not me. So since I've been on such a cooking streak after recovering from wisdom teeth nightmare, last week I decided to tackle both of these Pinterest recipes.

We Have an Office!

When I walked into flowers and chocolate covered strawberries in my kitchen at 7 a.m. on Valentine's Day, I only THOUGHT that the day was perfect. In reality a post-work surprise was waiting to put the icing on the cake... A finished office! I completely forgot to mention it in yesterday’s post.

So yes, it's true, we are FINALLY re-gaining an office. For a girl who is an arts, crafts, projects, papers, organizer freak, not having my own office for the past 6 months has been extremely rough. Do you know how many planned projects I have that I cannot start until I have an office? Tons. And now it's finally time to move forward.

While the office started out just like any other room in our house, adorned with carpet, brown trim, and super modern curtains, it actually had a positive note, a soft green color on the wall.

Pinterest Yummy Recipe Challenge #3: Valentine's Day Cilantro Shrimp and Rice

Tuesday morning my day started out like this:

My V-Day surprise I walked into @ 7:00 a.m.
Sweet note included and all!

2010 and 2011 Art in Review

Bahhhhh, I was REALLY hoping to post remodel pictures of our office on Friday (or even this weekend), BUT, while the room is about 97% painted, we still have several details to finish. So I guess I will have to wait a post or two for the reveal. Now instead of flashing proud pictures of our room makeover, I'm going to flash proud pictures of my art.

The past two years (pretty much since college graduation) have been quite art and craft-o-licious for me. I actually thought I had produced more art pieces in 2011 than I actually did, but I guess not since I spent last year crafting away for the wedding and not actually painting. Nonetheless I have plenty of 2010 and 2011 work combined to use in my rookie showcase.

I painted this one as a Christmas gift for my Dad and Haley.
They had a poster of this flower so I thought I'd give them something real.
It took me over two years, from the day I started, to actually finish it.

Mrs. Buck's Infamous White Pizza Dip

Apparently if I had grown up in Round Rock or attended McNeil high school, I would have no doubt, at some point in my life, eaten Mrs. Buck's infamous white pizza dip. Well I did not grow up in Round Rock nor did I attend McNeil high school, so it was not until this past New Year's Eve that I got to taste this here-say. Actually it was Elizabeth Sowards who introduced me to it at her NYE party, but as I went on raving about it that night, I realized that almost every person in the room had already had it numerous times before from Mrs. Buck. Well props to you Anne because I love pizza flavored anything and I definitely love this pizza dip.

Believe it or not the recipe actually comes from the back of a Lipton dry soup mix box, Savory Herb with Garlic to be exact. Elizabeth said the flavor is sometimes hard to find in the stores so lucky me was sent home with a box - soup mix, recipe and all.

Sneak Peek at Our New Master Bedroom

Today was a big day. This morning I was lucky enough to have 3 of my 4 wonderful wisdom teeth removed, and since then I have been lucky enough to lay at home all day... in my bed... in my master bedroom. Yes, that is correct, we finally moved out of our living room efficiency and back into our bedroom. We were super close last night to not moving anything at all, but I knew crashing out in my bedroom rather than my living room would make today's recovery a much more pleasant experience. And on that note we sucked it up and moved!

As promised to all of you who have been requesting, today I have a sneak peek of our master bedroom. I wanted to wait to post all the finished rooms until after  they were all finished, but I have no idea when that will be. There are still several final details to work on, like doors, blinds, closet lights, and crown molding, and there is still new furniture to be purchased, so today you only get the bare bones before and after pictures.

Why You Should Register at Macy's

For our wedding we registered at Target, Crate and Barrel and Macy's. The three stores were no doubt the perfect mix of options for our guests and our gifts. And while I do love ALL of the stores, right now Macy’s is sitting very pretty in my eyes – pretty to the point that I need to write a blog about it.

Since my wedding Macy’s has conveniently sent me email notices that include registry completion discounts, and since then I’ve learned that if you pair these discounts with a good sale, you can walk out with one heck of deal. Well, last Thursday was one of those days where I racked up on Macy’s savings. After strategically pairing a 20% completion discount with Macy’s semi-annual home sale, this is what I walked away with (or had shipped to me for FREE if it wasn’t in stock):

10 PIECE CORNINGWARE SET
Original Price: $70.00
Sale Price: $49.99
Special Sale Price: $34.99
Final Price: $27.99
