"We're all a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

- Dr. Seuss

When a save the date starts with that quote and picture, you're pretty sure it's going to be one awesome wedding with one awesome couple. BUT THEN the invitation comes and you see this...

My DIY Wedding

Ok, so I'm almost one month past my one-year anniversary, but that doesn't mean I still can't celebrate it with this DIY wedding post.

I'm Czech and from the small town of Ennis, and with that came a big Czech wedding. In order to host such an event yet still remain within a budget, that meant DIY everything, not necessarily on my own, but DIY nonetheless. Here's a snapshot, because I'm pretty sure I have MANY more photos, of the DIY work that made our wedding more than extra special:

Brookie's Bountiful Baby Shower

No one is more deserving of a beautiful baby shower than my cousin Brooke. Whenever it comes time to host a shower or party, she's always there giving her 110% to make it as special as can be. So when it was my chance to help host a shower for her, I was nothing more than thrilled.

At first we looked into hosting the shower at one of our hometown cafes, but when plans changed and we decided to host the shower at my Dad's house, my foodie ears perked up and my catering gears kicked in. I love food; I love to plan; and I definitely love to cook! I am more than proud to say that we had one heck of a spread.

Tiffany's Chic Rustic Wedding

This past weekend I stayed plenty busy partaking in wedding festivities for my wonderful college roommate Tiffany. Tiffany met her husband Derek when we lived together sophomore year and there has no doubt been anticipation for this wedding ever since.

Friday of course was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We started out at First Christian Church Plano and then finished at Derek's aunt's house for BBQ. Also that night we had a bridesmaids moment where Tiff passed out her bridesmaids gifts. Us lucky girls were given jewelry, getting ready shirts, and matching clutches for the Big Day. The clutches, ordered from Etsy, had the cutest personalized message inside.

Yummy Shower for a Bride-to-Be

On March 10th my wonderful college roomie Tiffany will be tying the knot. So in spirit of the big day we of course had to host a wedding shower for the bride-to-be. And what better way for me to help host than to offer to cook the grub.

Why You Should Register at Macy's

For our wedding we registered at Target, Crate and Barrel and Macy's. The three stores were no doubt the perfect mix of options for our guests and our gifts. And while I do love ALL of the stores, right now Macy’s is sitting very pretty in my eyes – pretty to the point that I need to write a blog about it.

Since my wedding Macy’s has conveniently sent me email notices that include registry completion discounts, and since then I’ve learned that if you pair these discounts with a good sale, you can walk out with one heck of deal. Well, last Thursday was one of those days where I racked up on Macy’s savings. After strategically pairing a 20% completion discount with Macy’s semi-annual home sale, this is what I walked away with (or had shipped to me for FREE if it wasn’t in stock):

10 PIECE CORNINGWARE SET
Original Price: $70.00
Sale Price: $49.99
Special Sale Price: $34.99
Final Price: $27.99

A Willingham Wedding Road Trip: Part 1 - The Actual Wedding

On Saturday Jeff and I teamed up with the wonderful Kelly Long and embarked on a mini road trip to Lake Jackson, Texas to see one of my best high school friends, Chase Willingham, get married. I had much anticipation for the trip for several reasons: because Chase is one of my favorites and I love his new wife, because I was excited for the mini reunion with great friends, and because it was such a relief to be a wedding attendee and not the bride. It sounds bad, but enjoying a wedding that you did not have to plan for months really is nice. I'm sure Robyn will agree moving forward.

Speaking of, Robyn Caldwell Willingham is one of the sweetest, most beautiful girls I have ever met. Not to mention that she looked stunning on her big day. Chase could not have met a more perfect match. Oh, and did I mention that I was there for some of the initial kindling of their relationship?
