The Ugly Bookshelf Makeover

You've all seen them, whether in your own home or someone you know, drabby brown laminate bookshelves.

PYRC #11: Pineapple Bacon BBQ Burger and Chili Garlic Parmesan Fries with Garlic Aioli

Sunday funday this past weekend was definitely a Sunday yumday. It was the perfect day to indulge in new kitchen recipes, and we had my brother and sister-in-law and their kids over to share. Considering they love food and cooking even more than I do, meals with them always call for a good time.

While this meal was not 100% "Pinterested," it was definitely Pinterest- inspired. I had a Kansas City BBQ Sauce recipe that I wanted to try, so we made pineapple bacon BBQ burgers and paired them with a side none other than parmesan fries :)

PYRC #10: Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs with Carrot and Cucumber Salad

Lucky for me, I have family members or know of friends who are knowledgeable or experienced in almost all things "handyman," including framing. My cousin's boyfriend is a framer, and since Jeff and I want to lift a beam in our living area, his experience is definitely something we need. Why am I informing you of this in a Pinterest recipe post? Because we needed him to come over to scope out the project, so in return we provided booze and dinner.

It's summertime (well maybe not officially), so it's time for summer food. Menu for the night:
  • Hawaiian chicken kabobs
  • Carrot and cucumber salad
  • Cilantro lime rice
  • Corn on the cob

Officially a Dog Mom... and Lots of Other Things

Yup, it's true. I am now officially a mom... to a dog... to a Saint Bernard to be exact.

No, Toby was not a profound decision that Jeff and I came to one day. Actually, he wasn't really a decision at all. Jeff and his roommate adopted Toby in college.

PYRC #9: Spinach and Quinoa Salad with Grapefruit and Avocado

Another easy recipe from Skinnytaste - Spinach and Quinoa Salad with Grapefruit and Avocado. Considering that I love making salads, that Jeff and I were won over by quinoa a couple of months ago, and that I've married quinoa and salad before, this recipe was right up my alley.
